TV News: Outlander, True, Babylon, Cards

A new photo is out of the characters of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) together in “Outlander,” Starz’s adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s popular novel series about a WW2 nurse who falls back in time to war torn Scotland in the 1700s.

Showrunner Ronald D. Moore says that four episodes of the first season are now in the can. Sadly there’s still no air date as yet beyond a general 2014 airing. [Source: Twitter]

True Detective
Ahead of its premiere next Sunday, HBO has released a final trailer for its upcoming anthology series “True Detective” starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. The story follows two detectives during a seventeen-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. Reviews for the first few episodes have been gushing.

Filmmaker Danny Boyle is headed to TV in a way you wouldn’t expect – with a new police-themed comedy-drama series entitled “Babylon” for UK Channel 4. The pilot for the show is slated to air early this year with a full series to film this Fall.

James Nesbitt (“The Hobbit”), Brit Marling (“The Sound of My Voice”) and Paterson Joseph (“Peep Show”) star in the series which Sam Bain (“Four Lions,” “Fresh Meat”) co-wrote with Jesse Armstrong. The first photos of the cast have gone online, check them out at The Mirror.
