L.A.’s Finest
Spectrum Originals has announced that the second season of the “Bad Boys” spin-off TV series “L.A.’s Finest” has begun production ahead of a 2020 premiere. The cop drama centers on two female Los Angeles Police Department detectives played by Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union.

Ernie Hudson, Zach Gilford, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin, and Zach McGowan also star. The show’s first season has earned over 3 million viewers to date – becoming the #1 drama among broadcast series and #2 drama overall second only to “Game of Thrones” in Spectrum homes. [Source: TV Series Finale]

Untitled Ted Danson Series
Former SNL alum Bobby Moynihan has scored a lead role opposite Ted Danson on NBC’s straight-to-series single-camera untitled comedy series which hails from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. Danson plays a wealthy businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles for all the wrong reasons.

Once he wins he has to figure out what he stands for, gain the respect of his staff, and connect with his teenage daughter. Moynihan will play Jayden, the interim Director of Communications in the newly elected Mayor’s office. Jeff Richmond and David Miner will also executive produce. [Source: Deadline]

David S. Goyer
“Man of Steel” scribe David S. Goyer and his Phantom Four production company has signed an exclusive multi-year overall agreement with Skydance Television. Goyer will create, develop and produce original scripted series for the studio where he currently serves as showrunner and executive producer on the new sci-fi drama series “Foundation” based on Isaac Asimov’s novel series. The Players Ball
“Silicon Valley” co-creators John Altschuler and David Krinsky are teaming on a series adaptation of the novel “The Players Ball” about the origins of the dating website Match.com. The project has received a pilot script order at TBS. David Kushner, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson, Jeremy Bell and DJ Goldberg are attached as an executive producer.

The story follows the incredible battle between entrepreneur Gary Kremen, the founder of Match.com, and the con man who swindled him out of the website Sex.com, resulting in an all-out war for the control of love and sex on the internet. [Source: Variety]
