National Geographic’s recent “The Hot Zone” event series starring Julianna Margulies has become the network’s most-watched scripted series of all time. The series, based on Richard Preston’s bestselling true story tale about an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. in 1989, averaged a .82 in Live+3 ratings in the demo over three nights, besting previous record holder “Genius: Einstein”. It is also the second-most-watched scripted series to premiere on ad-supported cable so far this year. [Source: Deadline]
HBO’s gritty and horrifying event series “Chernobyl” has jumped to the No. 1 spot on IMDb’s all-time TV rankings just days after the limited series concluded. With 140,000 user votes, the five-episode series about the Ukraine nuclear reactor meltdown has managed a 9.7/10 which is about “Breaking Bad,” “Planet Earth II” and “Band of Brothers” (9.5), the original “Planet Earth” (9.4), “Game of Thrones” (9.3) and “The Wire” (9.3). Amazon has released the trailer for two-hour musical feature finale of its series “Transparent”. Said musical film will close out the series in place of a traditional final season. In the finale, the Pfeffermans will confront the life-changing loss of Maura Pfefferman (Jeffrey Tambor) and “come together to celebrate connection, joy, and transformation”.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones
Marvel has released a new poster for the third season of “Jessica Jones”, the one sheet coming ahead of a full-length trailer coming tomorrow. This final season, of not just Jones but all the Marvel-Netflix series, starts airing from June 14th on Netflix.
