Charmed
Rupert Evans (“Hellboy,” “The Man in the High Castle”) has joined The CW’s “Charmed” reboot pilot in the series-regular role of Harry, a handsome professor and raconteur with an infuriating charm and a mysterious interest in the three witch sisters – he’s their Whitelighter. The Umbrella Academy
John Magaro (“The Big Short,” “The Good Wife”) has been cast as a series regular in Netflix’s live-action series “The Umbrella Academy” from Universal Cable Productions. Written by Jeremy Slater based on the popular graphic novels penned by Gerard Way, the story follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes known as the Umbrella Academy.

Magaro will play Leonard Peabody, a sweet everyman who begins to take music lessons from Vanya and sees something special in this constantly dismissed wallflower. Steve Blackman serves as showrunner on the series. [Source: Deadline]

The Last Kids on Earth
Atomic Cartoons has begun production on Netflix’s “The Last Kids On Earth,” a serialized animated adventure-comedy series based on Max Brallier’s bestselling book series. A 2019 premiere is planned. Brallier is executive producing and co-writing with Scott Peterson (“Phineas and Ferb”), who will also serve as showrunner.

The story follows 13-year-old Jack Sullivan and a band of suburban middle schoolers who live in a decked-out tree house, play video games, gorge themselves on candy, and battle zombies in the aftermath of the monster apocalypse. [Source: Deadline]
