TV News: Good, Transparent, Home, Fear

The Good Doctor
ABC has renewed its Freddie Highmore-led freshman series hit “The Good Doctor” for a second season. The medical drama is currently averaging a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 9.8 million viewers per episode in the Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings, the second highest-rated show on ABC behind only “Grey’s Anatomy”. Production on the fifth season of Amazon’s hit series “Transparent” is being delayed due to star Jeffrey Tambor’s dismissal. Filming reportedly isn’t scheduled to begin on the upcoming season until the end of the year, possibly December, meaning it won’t air until well into 2019. It’s not clear how creator Jill Soloway will move forward without Tambor’s Maura Pfefferman, though recasting has been floated as a possibility. [Source: THR]

Home Improvement
With TV revivals all the rage, actor Tim Allen was asked recently about the chances of bringing back sitcom “Home Improvement”. He tells ET Online: “I can’t say everybody, but it has been floated. And more than I would have expected said, ‘Yeah, that would be cool to do it years later,’ like Roseanne. I like that idea.”

Fear the Walking Dead
AMC has released new portrait shots of the cast in the highly-anticipated fourth season of “Fear the Walking Dead” including returnees Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, and Danay Garcia, along with new series regulars: Lennie James, Garrett Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace. There’s also some random zombies.
