Shudder’s “Creepshow” TV series is setting new records for the service as 54% of all members of the direct-to-consumer platform have viewed an episode of the anthology series since its launch September 26th.
Additionally, the first episode had more minutes streamed in its opening weekend than any title in Shudder’s history. “House” and “The Night Manager” actor Hugh Laurie is reportedly working on a small-screen adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel, though which one is being kept under wraps. Mammoth Screen will develop the project for the BBC which has had success in recent years with Christie adaptations – most notably “And Then There Were None”. The CW is developing the hourlong series “Good Christian Bitches,” a reimagining of the 2010 series of the same name, based on Kim Gatlin’s book of the same name which hails from “Glamorous” writer Jordon Nardino, Darren Star, and Aaron Kaplan. Set at a prestigious private Christian high school in Dallas, a war stoking the student body’s social divides erupts when the new girl on campus, the atheist daughter of a minister, inadvertently tangles with three popular girls who blame her for ruining their lives. The Cleaning Lady
FOX has handed out a script commitment for a U.S. adaptation of Argentinian mob drama series “The Cleaning Lady” with “The 100” writer Miranda Kwok, “Stargirl” executive producer Melissa Carter, Amore & Vita Productions and Warner Bros. Television producing.
The series follows a young Filipina doctor who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her son, but when the system fails, she uses her cunning and intelligence to fight back. After hitting rock bottom, she crosses into a world of moral grey, cleaning crimes scenes for the Russian mob and eventually forges her own path to power. [Source: Deadline]
9-1-1: Lone Star
FOX has premiered the first teaser trailer for “9-1-1: Lone Star,” the upcoming “9-1-1” spin-off series starring Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler. The series will be making its debut with a special two-night event starting on Monday, January 19th and continuing on Monday, January 20th.
Set in Austin, TX, the action follows a sophisticated New York firefighter (Lowe) who, along with his son, re-locates to Austin, and must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in his own life. Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra McClain, Jim Parrack, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Julian Works, and Rafael Silva co-star.
