TV News: Creek, Sherlock, Helix

Jonathan Creek
Alan Davies has confirmed that three new hour-long episodes of the long-running cult crime drama are set to film this autumn, with an early 2014 air date likely.

That does not include this year’s already filmed 90-minute Easter Weekend special “The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb” which marks the first JC episode since 2010’s Easter special “The Judas Tree”. [Source: Radio Times]

Filmmaker Paul McGuigan, who has directed four of the six episodes of BBC’s “Sherlock”, will NOT be returning to helm any episodes in the upcoming third season.

McGuigan is too busy with work on the Max Landis-scripted “Frankenstein” to helm any of the episodes which begin production in the next few weeks. [Source: Twitter]

Syfy has given a straight-to-series order to Ron Moore’s drama “Helix”. The thirteen-episode thriller follows a team of scientists from the CDC who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak.

There, they find themselves in a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. Shooting begins later this year. [Source: THR]
