The Count of Monte Cristo
Mammoth Screen and writer Debbie Horsfield, the team behind popular period drama “Poldark” starring Aidan Turner, are set to adapt Alexandre Dumas’ literary classic “The Count of Monte Cristo”.

The new take will be set between 1815 and 1839 in France and Italy, during the Bourbon Restoration through to the reign of Louis-Philippe. The story follows a man wrongfully imprisoned, who escapes jail, acquires a fortune, and plans his revenge against those who wronged him. [Source: The Independent]

Bosch
Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Remember the Titans”) has been officially cast in the fifth season of the Amazon drama series “Bosch”. Hurst is set to play Hector Bonner, a former client of attorney Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers), currently working as her investigator.

“Bosch” is based from Michael Connelly‚Äôs best-selling novels, the hour-long series stars Titus Welliver as homicide Detective Harry Bosch. Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Madison Lintz and Lance Reddick co-star. [Source: Deadline]

The Dangerous Book for Boys
Amazon has reportedly cancelled the Bryan Cranston and Greg Mottola-created “The Dangerous Book for Boys” series after just one season. Based on the book by Conn and Hal Iggulden, the series follows a boy named Wyatt and his brothers as they deal with the death of their father – using a book to live in a fantasy world in which Wyatt reconnects with his father while learning important life lessons. Yadira Guevara-Prip (“Supernatural”) and Nesta Cooper (“Supergirl”) have scored leading roles opposite Jason Momoa in Apple’s new sci-fi series “See”. Guevara-Prip will portray a young warrior named Bow Lion, Cooper will play proud and determined young daughter Haniwa.

Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) created the story and Francis Lawrence (“Red Sparrow”) is attached to direct the tale which is set in a future where humanity has lost the ability to perceive the world with sight. Survivors have learned how to rely on their other senses to get by, but the birth of twins with sight will throw the new society into chaos. [Source: Deadline]
