TV News: Circle, 2.5 Men, Ratings, Dead

The Secret Circle
Former “Smallville” showrunners Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have joined the CW’s new show “The Secret Circle” in a consulting capacity for the moment.

It’s thought they’re coming in to take off some of the load from showrunner Kevin Williamson who is producing it and co-producing “The Vampire Diaries”.

‘Circle’ premiered to an impressive three million viewers last week, retaining all of its “Vampire Diaries” lead-in audience. [Source: Deadline]

Two and a Half Men
The ninth season premiere of “Two and a Half Men”, the first to star Ashton Kutcher rather than Charlie Sheen, drew 27.7 million viewers in the U.S. and posted a 10.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

The number is a series record by a large margin, it more than doubled last season’s premiere number last fall, and was the highest-rated season premiere on any network in six years. [Source: Deadline]

Ratings News
New comedy “2 Broke Girls”, following immediately after the “Two and a Half Men” season premiere, drew 19.5 million viewers in its premiere.

On the flip side, NBC’s “The Playboy Club” got off to a disappointing start with a 1.6/4 rating and 5 million viewers – down 30% on the premiere of now cancelled “Chase” in the same slot on NBC last year. [Source: Deadline]
