TV News: Casting, Dead, Torchwood


EW reports that “Southland” actor Shawn Hatosy has signed on for a guest-starring arc on “Dexter”. It’s not clear how many episodes of the upcoming fifth season he will appear in.

The Live Feed reports that Joanne Whalley will play the female lead in Showtime’s Renaissance crime drama “The Borgias”.

Whalley plays Vanossa, mother of the Borgia children who were fathered by Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons) before he became one of history’s most infamous popes. Vanossa once was a courtesan with a disreputable past.

The Live Feed also reports that Brian Cox will play the father of Laura Linney’s character in Showtime’s “The Big C” which premieres in August.

The Cleveland Show

The “Family Guy” spin-off, the highest-rated new scripted half-hour this season among Adults 18-34 and Teens, has been picked up for a third season by Fox to kick off late next year.

The show’s second season kicks off this Fall.


In an interview with The BBC, Russell T. Davies talked a bit about his plans for the new season of “Torchwood” and dropped a few hints.

First up the new cast members joining Jack and Gwen will be a mix of UK and American actors, and the story will take into account and have fun with the culture clash of the Welsh and the Yanks.

Location wise the stories will be set in America “and several other countries”.
