Franka Potente (“The Bourne Identity”) has been cast opposite Tom Hardy inthe FX/BBC period drama series “Taboo” which is being produced by Ridley Scott and Steven Knight. Potente will play Helga, a business-minded madam who shares a history with Hardy’s character.
Set in 1814, Hardy plays a man who returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, he must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. [Source: Deadline]
Paul Adelstein has signed on to reprise his role as Paul Kellerman in the event series revival of FOX’s “Prison Break”. A series regular for the first two seasons who returned briefly at the end of season four, his secret service agent character.
At the same time Inbar Lavi (“The Last Ship”), Marina Benedict (“Torchwood”) and Kunal Sharma (“The Kids Are Alright”) have booked recurring roles as production is set to get underway next month in Vancouver. H2O Motion Pictures is developing a pair of four-hour miniseries based on Allison Pataki’s novels about Empress Elisabeth of Austria. “The Accidental Empress” and “Sisi: Empress on Her Own” revolve around the tumultuous love affair between Elisabeth (Sisi), the daughter of a Bavarian duke, and the young emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire, Franz Joseph Habsburg.
Sisi was originally sent to chaperone her older sister on her first visit with the emperor. She struggles to assert her right to the throne beside her husband, to win the love of her people and the world, and to save an empire. [Source: Variety]
HBO’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus-led political comedy “Veep” returns for a fifth season on April 24th and this week the network has released a new trailer for the Emmy-winning series. Tony Hale, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Matt Walsh, Sufe Bradshaw, Gary Cole, Kevin Dunn, Hugh Laurie and more return for the new episodes which are the first under new showrunner David Mandel.
