Believe & Crisis
NBC has effectively cancelled its midseason drama series “Believe” and “Crisis”, pulling both shows for a “Women of SNL” special on the final Sunday of May sweeps. In their most recent airings this past Sunday, both dramas drew a pitiful 1.0 key demo rating in the fast nationals.
Both shows have four remaining episodes but it’s now “highly unlikely” they will be seen at this point. An official verdict by the network won’t be announced until NBC’s upfront presentation on Monday. [Source: TV Fanatic]
She’s Gotta Have It
Spike Lee and Showtime are teaming for a comedy TV series adaptation of his 1986 feature “She’s Gotta Have It”. Lee is set to write and direct should it move to the pilot stage.
The original film explored various lives in Brooklyn in the 1980s. Lee’s new take will be a contemporary look at the characters. [Source: The Live Feed]
CW Seed, the digital arm of The CW network, is moving forward with the “Veronica Mars” spin-off series “Play It Again, Dick”. Ryan Hansen will star, and creator Rob Thomas will co-write and produce the project which takes a “meta approach” to the series.
Hansen plays himself as he “begs, cajoles, and pleads with his former Veronica Mars castmates and friends to help him get his character, Dick Casablancas, his own spin-off show.” [Source: IGN]
An extended trailer has been released for Fox’s summer series “Gang Related”. Ramon Rodriguez plays a gang member sent in to infiltrate the LAPD, but it’s not clear which side he is really on. The series premieres May 2.
