Bates Motel & The Returned
A&E Network has announced back-to-back premiere dates for the third season of “Bates Motel” and the U.S. remake of acclaimed French supernatural series “The Returned”. Both will premiere on March 9th.
Speaking about the latter, show runner Cartlon Cuse says that the first six episodes of the show share a lot of similarities with the original. After that point they diverge and the end of the first season is “fairly, distinctively different” from the original. [Source: The Live Feed]
Canadian actress Britne Oldford (“Skins,” “American Horror Story”) has been cast as Lashawn Baez on The CW’s “Flash”. Lashawn Baez is apparently based on the DC Comics character Shawna Baez, better known as the reluctant teleporting villain Peek-A-Boo.
Oldford will reportedly play the girlfriend to Micah Parker’s character, an Iron Heights inmate who convinces his significant other to break him out of prison and use her powers to pull off one last heist. [Source: Comic Book.com]
NBC has ordered a pilot from Universal TV for the spiritually themed drama “Warrior” for a potential debut this Fall. David DiGilio penned the script and Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are executive producing.
The story follows a damaged heroine who works undercover with physical and spiritual guidance from a mysterious martial arts master to bring down an international crime lord. [Source: Variety]
Gail Berman and film scribe Robert Rodat (“Saving Private Ryan”) are teaming to develop “Park Row,” a drama series about the legendary rivalry between New York newspaper magnates William Randloph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer in the 1890s. [Source: Variety]
Wet Hot American Summer
It’s official, the cast of “Wet Hot American Summer” are reuniting for an eight-episode limited series prequel for Netflix. David Wain and Michael Showalter, who wrote the movie, created the series. Wain will direct, with the duo exec producing.
Plot details were not immediately available and it’s unclear which of the original cast members will return. [Source: THR]
Jekyll & Hyde
Tom Bateman (“Da Vinci’s Demons”), Natalie Gumede (“Coronation Street”) and the legendary Richard E. Grant are set to star in ITV’s ten episode action adventure drama “Jekyll and Hyde”. Filming beings later this month in Sri Lanka and London.
Bateman will play Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor with the dual personality. Grant plays Sir Roger Bulstrode, who heads the secret government department M10, which is known as The Invisible Men. Gumede is Bella who forms part of a love triangle with Robert. [Source: Deadline]
