TV News: Arrow, Banshee, Office

Green Arrow
Casting breakdowns for the new TV series “Green Arrow” based on the DC comics character have popped up confirming Dinah ‘Laurel’ Lance (aka. Black Canary) is the second lead character after the Arrow himself Oliver Queen. She’s also a legal aid attorney aiming to bring down the 1% and had a younger sister who died on Oliver’s yacht.

Other characters include his Lolita-esque teen sister Thea, his mother Moira, and a trust fund laden best friend Tommy. [Source: TV Addict]

Cinemax has issued a ten-episode series order for “True Blood” creator Alan Ball’s new series “Banshee” which begins shooting this Spring ahead of a 2013 premiere.

Jonathan Toppler and David Schickler penned the pilot which follows an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of a Pennsylvanian sheriff. He continues with his criminal activities as the sheriff, even though he’s being hunted down by a criminal organization who he betrayed a year ago. [Source: ]

The Office
NBC is working on a spinoff to “The Office” starring Rainn Wilson’s Dwight Schrute character for a potential midseason 2013 launch.

The proposed spinoff is a family comedy focusing on Dwight living at the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast which have been featured on the show several times. The potential spinoff will be introduced in an ‘Office’ episode later this season set at Schrute Farms.

If “The Office” is renewed for a ninth season as expected, Wilson will return this Fall before segueing to the new series around mid-season. [Source: Deadline]
