TV News: Archer, Bates, Fuller, Diplo

The animated spy comedy “Archer” is moving from FX to its sister network FXX for the show’s upcoming eighth season this spring. The show, which recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, has already been renewed through a tenth season. [Source: FX]

Bates Motel
A&E’s “Psycho” prequel series “Bates Motel” is set to premiere its fifth and final season earlier than planned with a launch on February 20th. Rihanna steps into the role of Janet Leigh’s doomed character, Marion Crane, from the original Hitchcock film in the new season. [Source: EW]

Fuller House
Jeff Franklin, the creator of both “Full House” and “Fuller House,” says that the traditional thirteen episode run that made up seasons one and two of “Fuller House” is going to be expanded for its third season with a total of eighteen episodes.

Season two of the show premiered on Netflix on December 9th last year. No word as yet on when the third season will go to air but production on the new episodes starts this week. [Source: Moviefone]

What Would Diplo Do?
Viceland has picked up its first-ever scripted series – the six-episode comedy series “What Would Diplo Do?” which has been written by and will star James Van Der Beek as a fictional version of the titular musician.

In the series, Diplo is a guy who can can bring 60,000 people to their feet… but kind of sucks one-on-one. The real Diplo serves as an executive producer alongside Brandon Dermer and Kevin Kusatsu. Dermer will also direct the pilot for the series which is slated to premiere later in 2017.
