TV News: 100, Revolt, Heat, Empire

The 100
The CW’s “The 100” ended its third season on an action high – closing out the AI storyline but promising even darker times ahead for those on the surface as shifting radiation will see almost all the Earth become uninhabitable.

Today the network has released an extended trailer for the new season which you can see below. The new batch of episodes kick off from February 1st.

Good Girls Revolt
Amazon’s 1960s-set drama “Good Girls Revolt,” which was axed last month by the streaming service, has been unable to find a new home and so won’t be getting a reprieve. The show followed a group of young female researchers who work at News of the Week.

Executive producer Dana Calvo revealed the bad news on Wednesday saying succinctly: “Good Girls Revolt won’t be airing on another network… I will miss the world and the characters that our cast brought to life.” [Source: THR]

In the Heat of the Night
“In The Heat Of The Night,” MGM Television’s contemporary drama series remake of the Oscar-winning 1967 United Artists feature and subsequent TV series spin-off, is back in development.

“Black Panther” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson” writer Joe Robert Cole has come onboard the series now which was previously setup at Showtime in 2014 with Tate Taylor (“The Help”) and Warren Littlefield (“Fargo”), both remain executive producers. [Source: Deadline]

Empire Spin-Off
Lee Daniels has confirmed that an “Empire” spin-off is in the works, but it’s unclear if it will be a standalone pilot or a back-door episode of the main season.

Daniels says that talks are underway and “looks like it’s going to happen…I can officially say that we will be having a spinoff”. He adds that ideas for it are being floated about right now so can’t offer a firm premise. [Source: The Live Feed]
