Following their success together with “Younger,” TV Land has signed producer Darren Star to a new pact that will have him develop a new project for the cable network while continuing as executive producer “Younger”.
The network unveiled its new plans at an upfront presentation yesterday, confirming it has renewed “Teachers” for a twenty-episode second season along with ordering pilots for three projects.
The most notable is a TV series adaptation of “The First Wives Club” written by Rebecca Addelman and exec produced by Jenny Bicks. This new version of the 1996 film will shift the action tomodern-day San Francisco and revolves around three women who reconnect after their close friend from college dies in a freak accident.
The other two are the comedy “Nobodies” which Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone will executive produce and follow three struggling comedians desperately trying to land one of their famous friends for a feature script that they have developed.
The other is a currently untitled 1970s set series about a forty-year old woman who finds herself suddenly single and with no means to support herself or her children.
