Avenue 5
Josh Gad and Zach Woods have joined the cast of HBO’s space comedy “Avenue 5” which hails from “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci. Gad plays billionaire Herman Judd who employs scientists to give him the answers he wants.

Hugh Laurie, Rebecca Front and Suzy Nakamura co-star in the pilot which has had several scripts ordered but has yet to be given a series order. [Source: Deadline]

Utopia
Dan Byrd (“Cougar Town”), Cory Michael Smith (“Gotham”) and Rainn Wilson (“Star Trek: Discovery”) have been tapped to co-star opposite Sasha Lane in Amazon’s adaptation of the cult British series “Utopia”. “Gone Girl” author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn penned the U.S. take.

The story follows a group of young adults who meet online and are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come into possession of a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel which tells the future. [Source: Deadline]

Batwoman
Elizabeth Anweis (“Twin Peaks: The Return”) has joined the “Batwoman” series on The CW. Anweis will play Catherine Hamilton-Kane, stepmother to lead character Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) and an antagonist.

In the series she is the second wife of Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and heiress to the Hamilton arms fortune. She’s dubbed a savvy, bullheaded defense contractor [and] one of Gotham’s most powerful residents. Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Nicole Kang, Luke Fox and Mary Hamilton co-star. Prism
Ramon Rodriguez (“Iron Fist,” “The Wire”) is set to join Malin Akerman and Mykelti Williamson in NBC’s legal drama pilot “Prism” where he will play Eduardo Guaty, a hard-hitting prosecutor. Daniel Barnz pens and directs the “Rashomon”-inspired story dubbed a provocative exploration of a murder trial in which every episode is told through the perspective of a different key person involved. Former “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier will star in Syfy’s pilot “Cipher”. The story follows a father (Grenier) and son (Gabriel Bateman) who unwittingly find themselves at the center of the next great war – over artificial intelligence.
