Producer Amy Pascal is set to develop a film adaptation of “Blood in the Water,” Heather Ann Thompson’s just released non-fiction novel about the famed 1971 riot in New York’s Attica State Prison.
The book covers the state’s violent response, the victims’ decades-long quest for justice and includes surprising information never previously made public. Pascal and Rachel O’Connor are producing, and writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will pen the script.
The project is not to be confused with the recently announced other Attica film which Chris Bender and Jake Weiner are developing. Kristen Buckley is set to pen the script which will be based on the stories of Elizabeth Fink and Frank “Big Black” Smith.
