Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are in the running to handle distribution of Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick Ass” reports Risky Biz Blog.
Vaughn financed the superhero vigilante action/comedy independently after some studios found the project’s violence too graphic and some of its dialogue too profanity-laced and opted not to board the project during production.
However two weeks ago the project screened footage at the San Diego Comic-Con to a very warm response. Screenings were held the following week for buys and various studios began to circle the film.
