Part of Universal Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas earlier today included Illumination Entertainment founder and CEO Chris Meledandri who announced new castings for two major 2017 titles.
One of them was Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of “South Park,” joining the voice cast of “Despicable Me 3”.
Parker will play the villain Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who has grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the 1980s. He proves to be Gru’s most formidable nemesis to date.
Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda helm the new film which continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters. The project is currently targeting a June 30th 2017 release.
Fans of the yellow ‘Minions’ won’t have to wait until then though as a new short film, ‘The Mower Minions,’ will appear in front of “The Secret Life of Pets” opening this Summer. This marks the first time ever that Illumination has released a short film theatrically.
