Trevor Noah’s “Daily Show” Set For 9/28

Comedy Central have confirmed that South African comedian Trevor Noah is set to take over the reins from Jon Stewart as host of “The Daily Show” starting September 28th.

The premiere date for Noah’s first go in the big chair was announced today with a new promo which you can see below, one that includes a brief appearance by current host Jon Stewart. Stewart’s last show goes to air on August 6th with the series then taking a break until Noah’s tenure begins.

Noah’s appointment has already been hit by controversy when it was announced in late March that he’d be taking over. Within hours, old stand-up jokes he told that were deemed offensive to some were brought to light on social media. Both Stewart and the network have stood by him and the fuss quickly died down.
