“Transparent” To End, “Resident” Renewed

Not unexpectedly, it has been announced that the upcoming fifth season of Amazon’s “Transparent” will be the show’s last.

Series star Jeffrey Tambor controversially exited the series over sexual harassment claims, leaving the entire production’s fate uncertain until Amazon announced plans to proceed with another season.

Jill Soloway and the writers are reportedly in the process of discussing how to continue the series for the final batch of episodes.

Also today, freshman medical drama “The Resident” has been renewed for a second season. Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp and Manish Dayal star in the series which is FOX’s third highest-rated scripted series – averaging 4.6 million and more than 10 million multi-platform viewers per episode.

Set in the fictional Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, the series is designed to pull back the curtain on the bureaucracy affecting medical professionals across the country.
