A few years ago the Broadway show “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” made headlines for all the wrong reasons – notoriously running into production troubles due to the difficulty of its stunts and lots of retooling of its score and book – ultimately becoming one of the most expensive Broadway productions in history.
Now the company behind that, S2BN Entertainment, is teaming with China’s DMG Entertainment to produce a live-action attraction based on the “Transformers” franchise and being performed in China where the films are very popular.
“Transformers: Live with Hasbro” is a live-action event described as a “cross between an action-adventure spectacle, a theme park attraction and a theatrical show.” S2BN Entertainment chairman Michael Cohl adds: “Fans will experience intense action, beautiful visual moments, an emotionally engaging story, lots of humor and rousing music.”
The attraction has a capacity of 4,500 audience members and will feature real-life robots as well as special effects. The project will launch in an undisclosed Chinese city sometime next year.
