Paramount Pictures and state of Michigan officials have announced that much of Michael Bay’s fifth “Transformers” film will be shot around Detroit this summer.
The studio and state anticipate an in-state spend of $80 million and project hiring around 850 cast and crew hires, 450 of which will be Michigan residents. The production also expects to hire 700 extras.
Paramount will receive $21 million in state incentives for filming in Michigan. The studio had multiple pre-approved applications with the Film Office, the state has modified those into a single amended agreement.
Parts of the first, third and fourth films were also shot in Michigan. Mark Wahlberg returns for the film which opens June next year.
