The old cliche that there’s only one business in the world where personal hatred is no problem at all was demonstrated today as the Michael Bay and Megan Fox online feud came to a seeming close. Why? There’s money to be made.
Director Michael Bay has announced on his official site that the release date for “Transformers 3” has now been set for July 1st 2011, formally making it Bay’s next project.
In fact work has already begun: “This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters”.
As for Fox? Bay says “P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep.”
The date puts it against another Hasbro adaptation, the Peter Berg-directed “Battleship”, which will no doubt be pushed back to Fall 2011. T3 joins a Summer already stuffed with sequels including “Spider-Man 4,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “The Hangover 2,” “Cars 2,” “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II” and three superhero launches (“Green Lantern,” “Thor,” “Captain America”).
