NEON has premiered a new trailer for their music industry drama “Wild Rose” starring celebrated Irish actress Jessie Buckley (“Chernobyl,” “The Woman in White”). The film is now playing in NY and LA and expands to more cities in coming weeks.
The story follows a fresh-out-of-prison mother of two who pursues her dream of becoming a country music superstar with her eyes on Nashville. Julie Walters is also onboard as her committed mother.
The Peanut Butter Falcon
Dubbed a modern take on Mark Twain, Tyler Nilson’s “The Peanut Butter Falcon” follows Zak Gottsagen as a young man with Down syndrome who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church).
A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Dakota Johnson also stars in the film opening August 9th.
Orion Pictures has released the official red band trailer for “Bad Trip,” a hidden camera sketch comedy film in which actors like Tiffany Haddish, Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery pull pranks on real people.
The story follows two best friends go on a cross-country road trip full of hilarious, inventive pranks, pulling its real-life audience into the mayhem. Kitao Sakurai helms the film while Jeff Tremaine, Dave Bernad, and Ruben Fleischer produce. The film hits cinemas nationwide on October 25th.
Into The Ashes
The continually reliable Frank Grillo returns in a major way with the new drama “Into the Ashes” which also boasts Luke Grimes, Robert Taylor, and James Badge Dale. The film hits cinemas, on demand, and digital on July 19th.
The story folllows a man who comes back home to his house in rural Alabama to find that his loving wife has been murdered by one of his former criminal associates. He then sets out on a course for revenge.
The Untitled Amazing Johnathan Documentary
If you watched any variety TV in the 1990s, you’ll remember The Amazing Jonathan – the brash American part comedian/part magician who deconstructed magic and used gory props for live audiences. He was a year-round headliner in Las Vegas for over a decade but effectively retired due to cardiomyopathy which seemingly put his life in jeopardy.
This new documentary starts out as a seemingly ordinary profile of the dying magician’s final tour, but takes a turn as filmmaker Ben Berman struggles to separate truth from illusion. The film hits cinemas and Hulu on August 16th.
