A couple of key trailer releases today starting with new footage from Toho’s upcoming animated feature “Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters” which opened in Japan last month and hits global cinemas next year. Set many millennia in the future, the story sees the human race returning to Earth which has now become Godzilla’s domain. Their mission is to take back the planet.
Next up, a new U.S. trailer for Aardman Animation’s prehistoric family comedy adventure “Early Man”. The Nick Park-directed film deals with a conflict between the Stone Age folk and the Bronze Age citizens. Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams, and Timothy Spall lend their voices.
“Tracks” director John Curran takes on the infamous Ted Kennedy political scandal with “Chappaquiddick” which launched a trailer today. Jason Clarke stars as Ted Kennedy, a rising star in the political dynasty whose ambitions come a halt when a late night drive with campaign volunteer Mary Jo Kopechne (Kate Mara) ends in her death. Ed Helms and Olivia Thirlby also star in the film which opens on April 6th 2018.
Netflix has released the first trailer for the biopic “A Futile and Stupid Gesture” about the life and career of National Lampoon co-founder Doug Kenney (Will Forte) who penned such films as “Animal House” and “Caddyshack”, and subsequently developed a serious drug and alcohol abuse problem and ultimately committed suicide in Hawaii. David Wain helms the film which also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Joel McHale, and Emmy Rossum.
