Trailer: William Oldroyd’s “Lady Macbeth”

Roadside Attractions has unveiled a new trailer for “Lady Macbeth,” the directorial feature debut of William Oldroyd. They’ve also locked in a June 2nd 2017 release date for theatrical runs in New York and Los Angeles.

Alice Birch penned the film based on Nikolai Leskov’s 1865 Russian novella “Lady Macbeth Of Mtsensk”. Set in rural England 1865, the film centers on Katherine (Pugh), a woman stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age, and his cold, unforgiving family.

When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Florence Pugh, Cosmo Jarvis, Paul Hilton, Naomi Ackie and Christopher Fairbank star.
