First announced three years ago, David Goyer’s “Superman” prequel series “Krypton” is finally on the way and today Syfy has released the first promo for the show.
The network has been trying to reinvent its image in recent years to be a home once again for proper science-fiction storytelling. It has succeeded to some extent with good notices for “12 Monkey” and “The Magicians,” and raves for “The Expanse” which has become its best flagship drama since the “Battlestar Galactica” reboot.
“Krypton” doesn’t look to be on the same level production quality wise as ‘Expanse,’ but may still surprise some. The story follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) and is set during a time when the House of El was disgraced in Kryptonian society. He also engages in a forbidden romance with Lyta Zod (Georgina Campbell).
“Krypton” is slated to air later in the year.
