Trailer Saoirse Ronan In “On Chesil Beach”

Over a decade after “Atonement,” actress Saoirse Ronan stars in another film adaptation of an Ian McEwan novel – this time one that explores newlywed sexual repression.

The story centers on a young couple of drastically different backgrounds in the summer of 1962. Following the pair through their idyllic courtship, it explores sex and the societal pressure that can accompany physical intimacy, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night.

Billy Howle, Emily Watson, Anne-Marie Duff, Samuel West, and Adrian Scarborough star in the film which has been directed by Dominic Cooke and opens States-side on May 18th.
