From his breakthrough debut as a closeted gay cyclist on the Aussie sporting drama “Sweat” to his unfinished final turn in Terry Gilliam’s trippy “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” actor Heath Ledger left an astonishing body of work on screen before he tragically passed away nine years ago at the young age of 28.
His track record includes “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Patriot,” “The Brothers Grimm,” “A Knight’s Tale,” “10 Things I Hate About You,” “Lords of Dogtown,” “Two Hands,” “Ned Kelly,” “Candy,” “Blackrock,” “Monster’s Ball,” “The Four Feathers,” “Casanova,” “The Sin Eater,” “I’m Not There” and “Roar” – works that will always be with us.
Now a new documentary called “I Am Heath Ledger,” from critically-acclaimed filmmaker Derik Murray, is on the way and will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd. It will then score a limited theatrical nationwide release on May 3rd with Fathom Events, followed by a TV airing on Spike on May 17th and a VOD/DVD release on May 23rd.
Today, the trailer for that doco has arrived. The film provides an intimate look at Heath through the lens of his own camera, with a treasure trove of never-before-seen footage. Tickets and more information for the screening are available at FathomEvents.com.
