Trailer: Friedkin’s “Devil and Father Amorth”

Marking his first film since “Killer Joe” in 2011, filmmaker William Friedkin (“The Exorcist,” “The French Connection”) returns with a new documentary which has released its first trailer.

“The Devil and Father Amorth” sees Friedkin meeting with the 91-year-old Father Gabriele Amorth, official exorcist of the Diocese of Rome, and accompanies him on one of his harrowing house calls.

A look at the long history of demonic lore, the film offers a one-of-a-kind insight into the persistence of medieval belief in the supposedly modern world. The film will be released by The Orchard on April 20th in NY and LA.
