Though primarily a comedian, every now and then Eddie Murphy does a serious straight drama – resulting in excellent turns such as his performance in “Dreamgirls”. Ten years on he’s having another go, this time in Bruce Beresford’s new film “Mr. Church” from Cinelou and EMA.
Playing much like a remake of Beresford’s own “Driving Miss Daisy,” the story follows a cook hired to care for a woman (Natascha McElhone) dying of cancer and her young daughter. Heends up becoming more emotionally involved than he expects.
The first trailer for the project is out and can be seen below, the film is scoring a limited release on September 16th.
