IFC Films has premiered the official trailer for “Ophelia,” the long-delayed “Hamlet”-re-imagining starring Daisy Ridley, Naomi Watts, Clive Owen, George MacKay, and Tom Felton.
Set in the 14th Century but spoken in a contemporary voice, the story puts the focus on the daughter of Claudius’ chief advisor and the Queen’s most trusted lady-in-waiting who falls for the Danish Prince seeking revenge on those who murdered his father. Claire McCarthy helms the project based on the award-winning novel by Lisa Klein and adapted by SemiChellas.
Ridley is Ophelia, Watts plays the Queen, Owen will play Claudius, MacKay will play Hamlet, Felton will play Laertes, and Terrell will play Horatio.
“Ophelia” will open in cinemas on June 28th and on VOD on July 5th.
