Trailer: Banderas In Almodovar’s “Pain & Glory”

Trailer Banderas In Almodovars Pain Glory

Considered Pedro Almodovar’s best work in nearly two decades according to numerous festival reviewers in recent months, myself included, the U.S. trailer has finally arrived for “Pain and Glory” ahead of its North American premiere at the New York Film Festival.

In his intensely personal and semi-autobiographical tale, Antonio Banderas stars as Salvador Mallo – an Almodovar-like director whose growing health problems and creative block have initiated a midlife reckoning. The film flashes back to Salvador’s childhood in the sixties (with Penelope Cruz as his mother) and present-day Madrid where he navigates new artistic challenges.

Asier Etxeandia and Nora Navas co-star in the film which will arrive in cinemas on October 4th and is expected to push the long overdue to be recognised Banderas into the awards conversation.
