Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed to MTV that early talks have taken place for a possible sequel to 80’s classic “Top Gun”, but nothing more than that thus far.
“We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet. We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it” said Bruckheimer who helped establish his hit career with the original.
Speaking of sequels, producer Lauren Shuler Donner revealed at the Saturn Awards that they’ve already tried making a sequel to 2005’s Hellblazer comic adaptation “Constantine”.
“We tried it, we always got there, and then we had a few bumps in the road. Keanu was involved with us, everybody was. We just had a few bumps in the road. we’re gonna try again…we heard a good take” says Donner in a short quote from Comic Book Movie.
Finally, in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, actress Angelina Jolie revealed that there have been attempts to make a sequel to her 2005 action hit “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, but none have met success.
“People have tried. And it’s strange: do we have kids in the movie? We’ve thought about that, but it becomes personal now that we actually have kids. And if we work on it, we pull from our own life, which is funny to us, but you feel strange sharing too much. We did ask somebody to look into Mr. & Mrs. to see if they could crack a sequel, but there wasn’t anything original. It was just, Well, they’re going to get married, or they’ve got kids, or they get separated. Never great” says Jolie.
