Tommy Lee Jones is in final talks to co-star with Brad Pitt in James Gray’s sci-fi epic “Ad Astra” for New Regency, Plan B and RT Features.
Gray and co-wrote the project in which Pitt plays a slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride whose father (Jones) disappeared twenty years before whilst on a one-way mission to Neptune to find signs of alien life.
McBride sets out on the same path to find him and understand why his mission failed. The tone is said to be akin to Joseph Conrad’s “Heart Of Darkness” but set in deep space.
Gray wrote the script with Ethan Gross while Gray, Rodrigo Teixeira, Anthony Katagas and Marc Butan are producing. Filming begins in September.
