Marisa Tomei is already at work playing the female lead opposite Mickey Rourke in Darren Aronofsky’s indie drama “The Wrestler” says The Hudson Reporter.
The story centers on Randy “The Ram” Robinson, a past his prime 1980s-era pro grappler (Rourke) who quits the business after a heart attack. He then moves in with a stripper (Tomei) and slowly builds a relationship with her son.
In the process, he seeks to make a come back against his former rival. The narrative is being done in a documentary format.
Aronofsky and Robert Siegel wrote the screenplay and shooting is currently under way in New York and New Jersey.
