Our first look at the upcoming cinematic reboot of the “Tomb Raider” franchise will hit shortly with confirmation from the British Board of Classification that the preview has passed the UK’s censors and runs 2 minutes 10 seconds.
In the past, a trailer being classified by the BBFC should go online within the following week or two. That has been confirmed by the film’s star Alicia Vikander who appeared at the Toronto Film Festival to promote “Euphoria” and confirmed the trailer will hit within the next two weeks.
Talking about taking on the iconic role of Lara Croft and reinventing it with a younger and fresh take, she tells The Ottawa Sun:
“I thought it was a shot to tell a story about a young girl finding her footing in the world. I hope it will be relatable to young women and I hope parents will want their kids to see it.
It’s about being young, and not really knowing what kind of life is going to be in front of you. And you’ve been thrown questions about what you want to do, what you should do, and it’s not an easy thing for a teenager to figure that out.
There’s a lot of pressure. It’s a coming of age story with a known action character, and hopefully, we’ll see some new aspects of her that we haven’t seen before.”
The story will follow Lara on her journey to find out what happened to her missing father whom she learns was a great explorer. Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Hannah-John Kamen and Dominic West co-star in the film which opens March 16th.
