After breaking through with the classics “Let the Right One In” and “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,” filmmaker Tomas Alfredson stumbled last year with the widely panned Jo Nesbo adaptation “The Snowman” starring Michael Fassbender and Rebecca Ferguson.
Now Metro (via The Playlist) reports Alfredson is tackling a reboot of the popular Swedish comedy franchise “Jonssonligan”. The story follows a group of criminals and the hijinks they experience as they try to complete a heist.
The films were incredibly popular when they debuted in the 1980s and ran for two decades. Alfredson is enlisting a new cast which includes Henrik Dorsin, Anders Johansson, David Sundin and Hedda Stiernstedt. The new film is scheduled to be released in winter next year.
