Tom King To Pen Dcs The New Gods

Eisner Award-Winning comic book writer Tom King will co-write the script for “The New Gods” feature which filmmaker Ava DuVernay is helming for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The legendary Jack Kirby created the comic which mixed social commentary, mythology and science fiction, the story sees a war between two alien planets – New Genesis and Apokolips – arrive on Earth when the ruler of the dystopian Apokolips, Darkseid, discovers humanity holds the key to the Anti-Life Equation which allows its user to control all living beings in existence.

Darkseid has served as a major galactic villain across the DC universe and Jim Starlin used the character as a template to create Marvel’s similar villain Thanos.

Kirby, co-creator of Captain America, X-Men and other iconic heroes, created the work which was one of his ‘Fourth World Saga’ – four interconnected comic book series in the early 1970s which includes “Mister Miracle” as one of the titles. King recently worked on a celebrated run of “Mister Miracle” along with currently serving as the writer on the “Batman” comics.
