Tom Hardy Sought For “X-Men: Apocalypse”

Buried within a report about casting on “Doctor Strange,” The Wrap has indicated that 20th Century Fox is keen on casting Tom Hardy in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

In fact, the report says they’re after the “Inception” and “The Dark Knight Rises” actor to play the title character himself Apocalypse, aka. En Sabah Nur. In the comics, En Sabah Nur is the world’s first mutant who was born in Egypt around 3,000 BC and had access to advanced technology.

The character was teased in the post-credits scene of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. It would mark yet another superhero role the actor is wanted for, following on from reports that Warners is pursuing him for their “Suicide Squad” movie while Marvel Studios has considered him for “Doctor Strange”.

Kinberg, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty are penning the screenplay with Bryan Singer returning as director on the film. Filming begins in April in Montreal.
