On the heels of report late yesterday that Will Smith is eyeing a leading role in Tim Burton’s upcoming live action “Dumbo” film at Disney Pictures, now it seems the villain of the piece may have been found.
Variety reports that Tom Hanks has been offered the role of the central villain in Dumbo, however they add that a potential conflict may prevent Hanks from taking the role. There’s also no word yet as to exactly what character Hanks might be beyond an antagonist.
The 1941 original marked Disney’s fourth full-length animated feature and told the story of a young circus elephant who, mocked for his enormous ears, discovers that he can actually use them to fly.
The new film plans to blend CG and live-action and will feature a screenplay by “Transformers” scribe Ehren Kruger.
