Patton Oswalt has joined the cast of James Ponsoldt’s adaptation of Dave Eggers’ best-selling novel “The Circle”.
Emma Watson plays a college graduate who goes to work at the Circle, an Internet monopoly that links users’ personal emails, social media, banking and purchasing with their universal operating system.
The result is one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency – which turns out not to always be a good thing. Oswalt plays one of the three founders of the online conglomerate of the title, the other two played by Tom Hanks and John Boyega. Karen Gillan also stars.
Speaking of Tom Hanks projects, Jerry Ferrara (“Entourage”) has scored a key role in the Hanks-led, Clint Eastwood-directed”Sully”. Details about his role remain unknown, though Laura Linney and Aaron Eckhart also star.
Based on the book by Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, the biopic follows a pilot (Hanks) who becomes a national hero after his plane began to malfunction shortly after takeoff and he was forced to touch down on the Hudson River in order to save the passengers.
