Taking almost as long between films as Terrence Malick, fashion designer turned filmmaker Tom Ford’s second directorial feature has finally secured a release date – seven years after his debut film “A Single Man” opened in 2009.
The new movie, “Nocturnal Animals,” will be released by Focus Features in an exclusive engagement on November 18th, widen out on November 23rd and then go fully wide on December 9th.
Based on Austin Wright’s novel “Tony and Susan,” the story focuses on an art gallery owner (Amy Adams) who is haunted by her ex-husband’s novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a veiled threat and a symbolic revenge tale.
Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Ellie Bamber and Laura Linney also star. Focus Features scored the worldwide rights to the film at Cannes in a whopping $20 million deal.
