Tom Cruise is in negotiations to join the film adaptation of Lee Child’s “One Shot” at Paramount Pictures says Deadline.
‘Shot’ is the ninth novel in a series centring on Jack Reacher, a former military police officer who becomes a drifter. This particular story focuses on a sniper who is accused of murder and seeks out Reacher to help clear his name.
In the book the character is described as being 6’5 and 250 pounds, a height and weight Cruise is nowhere near. Child said in a statement – “Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way.”
Christopher McQuarrie (“Valkyrie”) is adapting the script and directing. Shooting will take place in Pittsburgh and it may go into production before Cruise begins work on “Oblivion” in January.
