Following a removed Amazon listing earlier this week indicating its release, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has now officially announced the Middle-earth Limited Collector’s Edition disc set which combines the extended editions of both “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogies.
Set for release on November 1st in stores and October 4th through Amazon, the 30-disc box set contains the extended versions of all six films housed in six faux leather books and a collectible Hobbit-style wood shelf. Digital copies of all films in their theatrical and extended edition forms will be included for download on Digital HD.
All previously-released bonus content from both the theatrical and extended edition releases will be included in the collection along with a 100-page sketch-style book replicating The Red Book of Westmarch, and two original reproductions of watercolor paintings by Alan Lee and John Howe.
Confirming the original listing, the set will be priced at the eye-watering recommended retail price of $799.99 US dollars. Also out it a more affordable ‘Theatrical Versions Collection’ which comes in six-disc Blu-ray and DVD versions for $68.99 and $35.99 respectively.
