Following the soft response to his most recent film “Wonderstruck,” filmmaker Todd Haynes is headed to the small screen for his next project – a TV mini-series about the father of psychiatry Sigmund Freud.
Haynes appeared at the Cannes Film Festival to honor his frequent collaborator, cinematographer Edward Lachman, where he revealed his plans for the show which is in the works at Amazon Studios who also released “Wonderstruck”.
Haynes is reportedly an avid reader of Freud’s work and said a few months ago the project’s aim was to re-examine a figure whom we’ve all forgotten how radical their thinking was because it is now so incorporated into our culture. At the time the person he was talking about wasn’t revealed.
Lachman is expected to be involved in a likely short-run event series.
