Tobey Maguire Set For Ang Lee’s “Life Of Pi”

Tobey Maguire has been cast in the film adaptation of Yann Martel’s Booker Prize-winning novel “Life of Pi” at Fox 2000 reports Variety.

The coming-of-age story revolves around a youth (Suraj Sharma) who is the lone survivor of a sunken freighter and winds up sharing a lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, an orangutan and a hungry Bengal tiger.

Maguire is set to play a writer who interviews the adult Pi (“Slumdog Millionaire” star Irrfan Khan) about his life-changing experience. Gerard Depardieu, Adil Hussain and Bollywood actress Tabu also star.

Ang Lee (“Brokeback Mountain”) directs from a script by David Magee (“Finding Neverland”). Maguire previously worked with Lee on “The Ice Storm” and “Ride With the Devil.”
